Incredible Faith Gives Strength To Cambodian Mother

Following the tragic accident and death of her son, this Cambodian mother has found peace through the Gospel of Jesus Christ and hope in the ressurction.

Chhun Duang is the mother of three children.  Malap, Voleak, and Makara (deceased).  She lives with her children and husband Neang, who drives a tuk-tuk in a rural village on the outskirts of Phnom Penh Cambodia.

The Duang family is not typical to their village.  They are the only members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  They have embraced a Christian faith, in a predominantly non Christian community.  This new faith has changed their lives.  The light of Sister Chhuns' testimony is easy to see in her face.  "I believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior.  I do trust Him and have desire to follow His gospel," said this beautiful mother.  Shortly after Chhun became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, near the end of 2014, her son Makara, had a tragic accident in falling off a bridge, resulting in his death.  He was 14 years old.  Having been taught the teachings of Jesus Christ, that death is not the end;  Chhuns' faith has sustained her, providing peace and comfort.  Sister Chhun has endured much persecution because of her beliefs, and for holding a Christian funeral for her son.

Sister Chhun continues to be faithful along with her husband, enjoying the recent baptism of their daughter Voleak.  "I have been given blessings; peace and happiness in my family.  I hope someday whole family will live together through covenants in the Temple.  I know I want to live with my son again."  Chhun continues on, stating firmly with strength and faith, "Even though I lost my son, I believe that I will meet my son on Ressurection day."      #Because He Lives      HeLives.mormon.org
