Young Single Adult Group Paint School in Cambodia

Rong Chrey School Battambang District Project

A Young Single Adult (YSA) group of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Battambang, under the direction of President Touch Sophon of the Church, held a service project to paint the Rong Chrey School building on February 16. The paint and painting supplies were donated by LDS Charities (LDSC). There were 50 young single adults and school employees that participated in the project.

Elder Howell, missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, built school desks from boards taken from old bed frames and odd pieces of lumber. The YSA group painted the boards a cheerful green. Playground equipment was donated by a generous donor and installed on the school grounds.

President Touch stated, “It looks so good that when the children arrive on Monday morning, they will think they are in a new school.”

Over the past year, the school has added a new building for the kindergarten and first graders, a new latrine, a new water tank, a new hand-wash station and new playground equipment. The association of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has participated with other sponsors in supporting the addition of these improvements to the school.
