Collaboration with the Ministry of Cult and Religion brings relief to 600 families, underscoring the Church's commitment to supporting communities in crisis.
In response to the persistent challenges posed by seasonal flooding in Cambodia, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has extended its hand of fellowship and relief. As the country grapples with the devastating impact on lives, homes, and critical sectors such as agriculture, the Church has provided a substantial donation of 15 tons of rice to be distributed among 600 families, thereby offering sustenance to approximately 2,400 individuals still reeling from the floods.
This humanitarian effort, coordinated with the Ministry of Cult and Religion, underscores the Church’s unwavering commitment to welfare and service. Seng Somoni, the Secretary of State from the Ministry, expressed profound gratitude for the Church's generous contribution, saying “the generosity of the Church is an active participation with the government, and through this involvement becomes a blessing for people who are in need.”
The Church's contribution, delivered on the 18th of December 2023, reflects its dedication to aiding the Cambodian government's poverty reduction initiatives and providing immediate relief to those in need. This act of charity exemplifies the Church's core tenets of compassion and community support, including the prophetic charge to "impart of your substance to the poor" (see Book of Mormon, Mosiah 4:26).
